Plan Your First Route
Place waypoints
Planning a route is the core functionality of Kurviger. It is very easy to plot a route on the website. A route consists of two or more waypoints. The Kurviger algorithm tries to connect the waypoints with an enjoyable route. Waypoints can be used to mark stops (via point) or can be used change where the route goes (shaping point).
There are two ways to set a waypoint, or in general to work with your route.
- You can use the address fields: In the upper half of the screen, you find input fields (
StartandEnd). You can use these to search for places (e.g. London) or to enter a coordinate ((e.g., 51.541274,-0.277684 for the famous Ace Cafe in London). By tapping on the+ Add Waypointbelow the two fields, you can add further destinations, known as via points. You can change the order of the points using drag and drop.
- You can use the map: Short or long tap at the point where you want to place a waypoint, tab
OKand then one of the options, e.g.Start.
- You can also use the
Searchfunction to search for a specific location or coordinates and add it to your route.
- You can also tap on the POIs displayed on the map and add them to your route as waypoints using the
Addbutton, as explained below.
Name waypoints
You can customize the names of your waypoints. To do so, tap on the corresponding waypoint in the waypoint bar or on the map and then on the input field that says Waypoint name. Now you can choose any name you like, but you can also edit or delete it at any time.
Set the curvature
You can set the curvature of your route using the Curvature button below the address fields. To do this, simply select the desired curvature. You can find more information about the curves here.
Note that you can set the curvature per route segment as a

Set avoidances
Kurviger automatically plans motorcycle friendly routes, avoiding roads that are less fun to ride. To explicitly avoid certain road types according to your preferences, you can further refine your route with avoidances.
You can set the avoidances for your route using the Avoidances button below the waypoint list. To do this, simply select the avoidances you need.
To individually set the strength of the avoidances, you can tap on the number and then adjust the avoidance strength using the slider - this feature is available with
.
Less is more! Avoidances are optional and excessive use can hinder useful route calculation.
View route information
Kurviger provides you with helpful information about your planned route, such as distance and travel time (at the waypoint list). In addition, you can also view an elevation diagram and other information about your route, such as closed roads and toll roads.
Simply tap the i button below the waypoint list and the route info window will open. You can slide it up to view route details and the route summary.
By tapping on the elevation diagram, you can use the arrows to switch between elevation, route information, speed limit, and route profile for sections.
Please note that some information is exclusively available for
