Headset Navigation (Sena)

With the Kurviger app, you can also hear turn instructions for your planned routes via voice output, so you don't have to look at the display while riding.

In the Kurviger app, you can select the Audio Channel for voice output on Android devices. This allows you to play navigation instructions on a different channel than your music, for example, and adjust the volume of both independently. Tap Channel for Voice Output in Settings under Navigation and then choose between:

  • Media/Music
  • Notifications
  • Calls

Info: Samsung devices route all audio streams except calls via the Media/Bluetooth stream, which is why Samsung users can only choose between the “Calls” and “Media/Music” channels.

Set the channel selected for navigation instructions on your device to the volume that is best for you.

You can also adjust the volume on the Sena headset itself: Using the + and - buttons (on some headsets, using the control wheel), you can set the volume independently for individual audio sources. To do this, press the buttons while the respective source is playing. These settings are retained even when you turn the headset off and on again.

Depending on the model, Sena headsets support either classic Bluetooth intercom or the more modern Mesh intercom.

  • Bluetooth intercom works via direct connections between individual devices and is suitable for smaller groups due to the limited number of channels.
  • Mesh intercom, on the other hand, establishes an automatic, self-organizing network, allows for larger groups, and offers more stable communication.

Regardless of whether a headset uses Bluetooth or Mesh, the “audio multitasking function” determines whether intercom conversations and navigation announcements can be played simultaneously. Audio multitasking (or audio overlay) means that additional audio signals (such as navigation instructions or music) are played in parallel during an ongoing intercom conversation without interrupting the conversation between the riders.

  • “ HD audio multitasking” (with additional Bluetooth chip): on certain models and mesh-enabled devices (e.g., Sena 20S/20S EVO, SRL/SRL2, 30K, 50R/50S, SRL3 in mesh mode), parallel intercom + additional audio source works with good audio quality.
  • “Software audio multitasking” (with only one Bluetooth chip): here, intercom + additional audio source can run in parallel, but with a loss of quality and, in the case of group intercom with more than one partner, usually not at all.
