Route Import with Kurviger
Important to understand: You cannot simply transfer a route from one system to another like a photo that looks the same everywhere. This is due to the way route data is structured. Since every navigation system calculates routes using its own algorithms, settings, and map data, there may be discrepancies.
➔ Our import feature helps you import your route in Kurviger so that it corresponds as closely as possible to the original route.
To import a route into Kurviger, simply click on the ⁝ menu and Import.
Please note: There is a separate import area for map overlays. You can find out everything you need to know here.
Select Source
Tour Code or Kurviger Link: This makes importing particularly easy. Just click on the corresponding button, enter the tour code or Kurviger link, and your route will be imported.
External File: Click on File and select the corresponding route file in one of the supported formats (.gpx, .itn, .mpjs, .kml or .kurviger) in your file browser.
Tip: By default, your route will be imported individually. However, you can also choose to append the imported route to your currently loaded route. To do this, simply select the ‘'Extend route’' button.

Route Selection
If your uploaded file contains multiple routes or tracks, you can first select which one you want to use for the route import. Check the appropriate items and then click on Confirm. (If your file contains only 1 route + track, the selection is made automatically.)
To achieve the most accurate route import possible, you can only import routes individually and not several at once. Even if several routes are selected, the import always takes place as a single route.
Tip: If available, always select the track associated with the route so that Kurviger can accurately transfer the route!
Here you can read more about the difference between a route and a track.
▶ Route: Reduce Waypoints
If you import only a route without a track, Kurviger (like other navigation software) calculates its own route between the waypoints of the imported route, which you can see as a blue line in the preview.
Too many waypoints can quickly make the route confusing. You can reduce the number of waypoints using the slider. Alternatively, you can remove unnecessary waypoints that do not affect the routes course by right-clicking on them in the preview. This will give you a clean and easy-to-edit route in Kurviger.
▶ Route and Track/Track Only: Matching
When you import a track, the preview shows it as a red line below the calculated route.
The Optimize waypoints button automatically adjusts the number of waypoints. Unnecessary waypoints are removed and missing ones are added to the route for a simple and precise route. Of course, your via-points (if any) remain unchanged. Any remaining deviations can be corrected manually if necessary.
Correct Deviations Manually
Since the track shows the exact course of your original route, Kurviger can show you the percentage match with the calculated route and tell you the deviations.
You can check and adjust deviations by clicking on Number Deviations in the preview: The preview will then automatically zoom in on the respective deviation and you can navigate through the deviations using the arrows. By clicking on the red track, you can now set additional waypoints to correct the route. You can delete waypoints again with a right-click.
