Route Transfer to TomTom
Important to understand: You can't simply transfer a route from one system to another like a photo that looks the same everywhere. This is because of how route data is structured. Since each navigation system calculates routes using its own algorithms, settings, and map data, there may be discrepancies.

Kurviger Export for Your TomTom Device
The Kurviger export helps you export your route in a way that it matches your planned Kurviger route as closely as possible on your TomTom device.
To do this, select your navigation device in Kurviger Export and the appropriate format and recommended settings will be suggested automatically. Therefore, try this first to see if you get a good result on your TomTom device.
Note: TomTom devices save routes as ITN files and tracks as GPX files. Older devices only support ITN (or GPX2ITN, see here).
Find out more about Kurviger route export here.
What is the difference between a track and a route?
If there are still discrepancies, you can vary the export settings for tracks and routes.
- Export only the track
- Export only the route (with additional waypoints!)
- Export track and route (if your navigation device can import both together)
➜ Import each variant once onto your navigation device and check the differences.
For more help, we have summarized some export best practices here.

Importing to a TomTom navigation device
Once you have successfully exported your route from Kurviger, you will need to import it to your Garmin navigation device.
There are different ways to do this depending on your navigation device:
Import via USB Connection
Many TomTom navigation devices can be easily connected to your planning device (PC/Android) via a USB cable to transfer a route/track. Find out how to do this here!
Import via plan.tomtom.com
For many newer TomTom devices, import via plan.tomtom.com is also possible. Find out how to do it here!

Instructions for:
Using GPX2ITN
For older TomTom devices (e.g., Rider-Urban or Rider 2013), there is another option for transferring route files, called “GPX2ITN,” which allows your TomTom to convert a ‘GPX’ file into an “ITN” file. To do this, export the “GPX Track” from Kurviger (the file name must not contain any spaces). Connect your TomTom to your PC. Now copy the downloaded GPX file to your TomTom in the “GPX2ITN” folder. You can now disconnect your TomTom from the PC. After switching on, you can load the route via “Manage routes,” “Open.” Have fun! You can find more information here.
